The Asista Foundation, based at the Laval Veterinary Center is a non-profit organization founded in 2011. The foundation provides service dogs for people that have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder. All their service dogs are given at no cost to the family in need. Asista’s mission is to help people integrate better in society by providing them service dogs certified by their expert team.

The foundation regularly participates in projects around Québec. Their latest participation is with the Government of Canada, more specifically Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC) to provide service dogs to veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Moreover, Asista’s expert team represents Québec on the national level to define normative standards for service dogs in Canada. The Animo pour la vie Foundation  helps low income families save the life of their pet. The foundation offers to pay a significant portion of the veterinary costs necessary for the pet’s survival in the event of an accident or serious illness.

Too often, people who don’t have the financial resources to continue the treatment towards the recovery of their pet have to resort to euthanasia. This is what the Animo pour la vie Foundation wishes to avoid.
