Dr_jean-Sbastien_Boileau_et_DT

 Jean-Sébastien Boileau
DVM, Dipl. ACVIM (cardiology)

Dr. Boileau graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Université de Montréal in 2002, and did an internship in pet medicine and general surgery at Michigan Veterinary Specialists in 2002-2003 (Southfield, Michigan).

He then completed a residency in cardiology at the Animal Medical Center from 2003 to 2006 (New York, NY). A diplomate in cardiology of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Boileau worked as a clinician and was the founder of the cardiology department of the Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists hospital in New York. He also worked as a consultant for Navix Diagnostics from 2006 to 2010, a company specialized in Holter monitoring.

Dr. Boileau join the Centre Vétérinaire team in january 2011. Dr. Boileau has also worked at the Hôpital Vétérinaire Rive-Sud since September 2010.

 Éric Norman Carmel
DVM, IPSAV, Dipl. ACVR

Dr Car­mel a étudié à la Faculté de méde­cine vété­ri­naire de l'Université de Mont­réal où il a com­plété son doc­to­rat en médecine vétérinaire en 1998 et un inter­nat de per­fec­tion­ne­ment en sciences appli­quées vété­ri­naires dans le domaine des ani­maux de com­pa­gnie en 1999. En 2000, il s'est joint à l'équipe du LITIEM (un labo­ra­toire mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­naire qui regroupe pro­fes­seurs, cher­cheurs et étudiants de la Faculté de méde­cine vété­ri­naire de l'Université de Mont­réal) où il a tra­vaillé sur dif­fé­rents pro­jets de recherche et déve­lop­pe­ment en techno-pédagogie vété­ri­naire et médicale.

Il a ensuite pour­suivi un pro­gramme de rési­dence en ima­ge­rie médicale à la Faculté de méde­cine vété­ri­naire de Saint-Hyacinthe, et réussi l'examen de cer­ti­fi­ca­tion de l'American Col­lege of Vete­ri­nary Radio­logy en 2011. Depuis 2010, il est cli­ni­cien en ima­ge­rie médi­cale au CHUV et ses inté­rêts de recherche sont en lien avec l'imagerie par réso­nance magné­tique et l'échographie abdo­mi­nale. Il est notam­ment le co-auteur du simu­la­teur Radio­Quiz et du blogue Ani­mages (www.animages.ca).

 Louis-Philippe de Lorimier
DVM, Dipl. ACVIM (oncology)

After a B.Sc. degree from McGill University in 1991, Dr. de Lorimier obtained his DVM from the Université de Montréal in 1996. Following 4 years of small animal general practice in Montréal, he enrolled in a medical oncology training program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2000. Upon completion of his residency in 2003, he stayed on as clinical assistant professor until 2007.

Dr. de Lorimier is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in Oncology, and joined the team of specialists at Hôpital Vétérinaire Rive-Sud in July 2007. He sits on several oncology-related committees and boards, is an oncology consultant on the Veterinary Information Network (www.vin.com), and collaborates with veterinary and comparative oncology networks.

Author or co-author of fourty scientific papers and 12 book chapters, his main interests include novel cancer therapeutics, comparative oncology, pain control, and palliative and supportive care aiming to improve his patients' quality of life.

 Sophie Gilbert
DVM, Dipl. DACVD

A graduate of the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the Université de Liège in Belgium in 1989, Dr. Gilbert worked as a clinical instructor in dermatology in the internal medicine service of the Université de Liège for 4 years before going on to obtain a Ph.D. in feline immunology at Scotland's University of Edinburgh. She next did a residency in dermatology at the University of California, Davis, working as a clinical instructor during the year after her residency.

Dr. Gilbert graduated from the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 2004. She worked at the University of Minnesota as an assistant professor of dermatology and, more recently, as a dermatologist with BluePearl Veterinary Partners in New York City.

Over the years, she developed a special interest in feline dermatology. Dr. Gilbert has been working at the Centre vétérinaire Laval since August 2011.

 Julie Hébert
DVM, Dipl. ABVP (avian practice)

Julie Hébert received her DVM from Université de Montréal in 2000. She spent 10 years working in private practice treating exclusively birds and exotic animals. In 2010 and 2011 she worked as a clinician in zoological medicine at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal. During this time she received her board certification in avian practice from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. She joined the Centre Vétérinaire de Laval team in October of 2011 to launch the Birds and Exotic Animals Department. She welcomes the opportunity to practice the medicine she is passionate about while collaborating with specialists in complementary fields.

 Édouard Maccolini
DVM, IPSAV (Zoological Medicine)

A graduate of the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon in 2009, Dr Édouard Maccolini worked in private practice for a year before completing an internship in zoological medicine at the Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire de l'Université de Montréal in 2010-2011. Following his internship, Dr Maccolini worked as a clinical instructor for a year at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire at the exotic animal clinic and raptor center. Dr Maccolini is pleased to be a part of the CVL birds and exotics team since August 2012.

 Erika Meler
DVM, MSc, Dipl. ACVIM (SAIM)

Dr. Erika Meler graduated from the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon in France in 2002 and obtained her doctorate in 2003 from Université Claude Bernard de Lyon with congratulations from the board of examiners

She came to Québec to perform an internship in applied veterinary science related to small animal medicine and surgery at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire de Saint-Hyacinthe de l'Université de Montréal.

Dr. Meler continued her training with a Certificate of Specialized Veterinary Studies in internal medicine at the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Nantes in 2005.

Her passion for small animal internal medicine motivated her to set up a specialized program (residency) at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Purdue University in the United States in July 2010. She acquired the title of specialist, or Diplomate en Médecine Interne des Petits Animaux (Dipl ACVIM), in November 2010.

Besides her passion for cutting-edge medicine in the care of our dogs and cats, Dr. Meler has a special interest in research. She earned a Master of Science (M. Sc.) in human oncogenetics at the Université d'Aix-Marseille in France and a second master's degree in Veterinary Sciences (MVSc) at Purdue University, which focused on infection and the carriage of methicillin resistant staphylococcus (MRSA) in pets

Dr. Meler has an interest in liver disease, infectious diseases and minimally invasive techniques. She joined the Centre Vétérinaire Laval in February 2010.
